Helena's husband Lee, who was previously missing, presumed dead, suddenly turns up on an Alphan spacecraft probing the planet Terra Nova, which is apparently capable of sustaining human life. But when the spacecraft returns to Alpha, Lee warns them not to go near the planet, and then dies. Koenig, thinking of re-locating his entire crew to this Earth-like planet, takes an advance party to its surface. Then Koenig is killed, Lee re-appears with another warning and Koenig comes back to life. He must now decide - should he order an exodus to this strange new planet?
When an Eagle, sent to survey a nearby planet, reports Earth-like conditions with no inhabitants, communications are suddenly cut off. When the ship lands safely at the base, the two-man crew are found unconscious, and a mysterious third passenger is found unconscious in the passenger module.

Helena identifies the man as her husband Lee Russell. He was presumed dead when the Astro 7 mission was lost in orbit around Jupiter in January of 1996. Koenig wants to know how he got to the planet now designated Terra Nova, and how he got aboard Eagle 6.

When Lee is brought to consciousness, he warns the Alphans not to go to the planet and collapses. He awakens when he is alone with Helena, and tells her he came to help her. When they touch, she is zapped by an electrical charge and knocked out.

Victor alerts Koenig that he has found something unusual in the thermal scans of Lee Russell. When Helena is near him, his scans appear normal, but when she is away, his scans indicate that he is dead. Victor can't explain why, but Koenig is determined to get some answers.

Lee Russell is interviewed by Koenig and Victor away from Helena. He attempts to warn the Alphans to stay away from the planet. When Koenig demands an explanation, he cannot provide one. Lee realizes that the Alphans will go to the planet no matter what he says, and simply dies.

With time running out on any hopes of implementing Operation Exodus, and with no real evidence to support his claims, Koenig ignores Lee Russell's warnings and leads an expedition to Terra Nova.

When they reach the planet they find a tropical paradise, with fresh air, fresh water, edible plant life, and the means to support human life indefinitely. It seems perfect, then things start to go wrong.

Alpha reports problems with the air lock seals, Alan reports that smoke is coming out of his Eagle's electrical panels, and as Koenig's team is returning, Paul's stun gun explodes, killing him and blinding Sandra. Their Eagle explodes as Koenig watches in horror.

The Moon explodes in the sky over Terra Nova causing a shock wave that devastates the planet. Sandra is lost in the confusion, Koenig dies in a rockslide, and Helena is left sobbing and alone on the now desolate planet.

Lee appears to his distaught wife and offers her, and the rest of the Alphans, a second chance. He tells her, she need only envision what she wants to see and all will be restored.

She envisions the planet in it's former glory, the Moon in the sky, and her fellow Alphans restored to health. All is as it was moments before the cataclysm, but this time they leave paradise alive.
